At recess, Anthony found a leaf . We noticed something growing straight up from the leaf. We brought the leaf inside to ask his friends what they thought was growing on the leaf. Here are their answers:

- pointy stuff (Joanna-Lee)
- spikes (Colin)
- branches
- egg from a creature
- leaves growing on a leaf (Devin)
- pokes
- something spiky that turns into a color and you get to pick up the spikes (Adam)

After looking on the Internet under Leaf Spikes, we found this picture. It explains that the spikes are some sort of leaf gall, possibly caused by an insect.

The children got to explore yellow Space Sand. Here are a few observations made by the children:

- soft (Tianna)
- not wet, feels like glue (Devin)
- it`s kind of wet and "sinky" (Christina)
- dried (Jackson)
- cool water (Brandon)
- it feels like sand (Giuliana M.)
- "saltly" and soft (Alessa)
- soft (Tammy)
- soft (Arman)
- sand (Sean)
- softly- It reminded her when she went to the beach with her cousin. (Giuliana G.)
